Our story
Three mates. One mountain brand.
The III Mountaineers is a UK technical outdoor clothing brand, built from the mountains up by Harrison, Archie and Dennis — and built in public, from the first idea onwards.
Why we’re building it
We hike and climb, and we wanted mountain clothing that works properly on the hill and still looks right when you’re nowhere near one.
Rather than guess what people want, we start from real problems — ones we hit on our own days out, and ones the community tells us about — and only build what solves them.
How we’re building it
- Community first. The people who’ll wear it help decide what gets made.
- Rough prototypes before factories. Cheap, quick and tested before anything is ordered.
- Mountain testing before claims. No performance promises until testing backs them up.
- Everything documented — including what fails.
- Preorders only when a product has earned it.
The name
III is the Roman numeral for three — one for each of us. Our web address spells it with ones: the111mountaineers.co.uk.

Where we are now
Day 0 — the idea — is done. Right now we’re on building the community. Next comes designing Drop 001, finding manufacturers, prototype testing and mountain testing, before Drop 001 itself.
